NSPO Welcomes Conductor Dr. J. David Arnott

The Northshore Philharmonic Orchestra is excited to announce the start of our 15th season. This year, we welcome Dr. J. David Arnott as our new conductor and artistic leader. Dr. Arnott brings a wealth of experience from his work with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra and the College of St. Benedict, and we look forward to the energy and vision he brings to the NSPO.

Great thanks go out to Tracey Gibbens for 14 years of dedication to making community music with the NSPO. In 2010, director Tracey Gibbens founded the North Shore Phil along with Josh Aerie and Jim Welinski with a passion to draw together musicians of all ages to share brilliant orchestra music. In 2025 Tracey passed the batton to David Arnott. The seeds that were planted continue to flourish – thank you!

Our 2025 season will feature a rich and varied program, including:

  • Verdi’s Overture to Nabucco—a vibrant and dramatic opener, filled with energetic rhythms and sweeping melodies.
  • Ethel Smyth’s Overture to The Wreckers—a powerful work inspired by the Cornish coast.
  • Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2, “Little Russian”—a lively and lyrical piece woven with Ukrainian folk tunes.

Concerts are scheduled for:
